The Barn House
A commercial project with Youngman Lovell
A very exciting project working on one of the UK’s first carbon neutral modular home with architects Youngman Lovell. The first Barn House was built near Bicester in 2021 in the Graven Hill area for self-builds and new builds.
It sits within a garden that has a sustainable and long-term vision in keeping with the ethos of the house. Drought-tolerant planting - and a wildflower meadow instead of a lawn - help lessen the need for maintenance. All the plants chosen provide for wildlife year round, including a native hedge and specimen trees, helping the architects work towards biodiversity net gain.
This is the first of many of these houses to be built by the architecture practice, who have become repeat collaborators of Tabi’s garden design practice.
