The Milking Parlour
A landscape design for a beautiful old farm
The recently restored Milking Parlour is part of a wider garden project that Tabi is working on in Berkshire. The building itself - with interiors and architecture by Youngman Lovell - is used as an event space, often hosting luxury fashion brands and film crews who hire the gardens for shoots. monksmeadfarm.co.uk
The landscape around the Milking Parlour is a garden in the loosest sense; created to be drought tolerant and to have minimal human intervention, the garden has been allowed to evolve in its own way and to sit comfortably between farmyard and fields.
The garden is in the shadow of a majestic oak tree and on the edge of a long pond; the design was based around the shape of an oak leaf and steel edging of some fluid beds help retain the planting and the hoggin pathways, with gentle curves that flow into the water and field beyond.
